Cedar Valley College + Mountainview College

Pandemic Champions

Services Offered to Community:

The sister colleges of Cedar Valley and Mountain View are working together as part of the Dallas County Community College District, soon to become Dallas College. During the current pandemic, DCCCD has quickly pivoted to a fully online learning model to keep students on track with their studies toward a degree or certificate. Online learning will continue through the May and Summer terms, with a decision to be made later regarding on-campus classes for Fall 2020. Registration for the upcoming terms opens in April and continues until the first day of classes for May and Summer, while the deadline for Fall classes is in August. Visit dcccd.edu to browse the class schedules.

DCCCD has also created a suite of Virtual Student Resources available on both the district and college websites. This puts important student information – enrollment steps, advising, career services and jobs, just to name a few – at the fingertips of every student. Even if you are not a current student, you may benefit from using the online tools available in under Career Services.

Cedar Valley and Mountain View are also on the forefront of helping the community during the COVID-19 crisis. Both campuses have donated equipment and supplies to help meet the increasing needs of local healthcare facilities. Cedar Valley donated several beds and a defibrillator to Parkland Hospital and, through its allied health program, is working to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and supplies to area hospitals. Mountain View donated PPEs in the form of N95 masks, sterile and non-sterile gloves, germicidal disposable wipes and hand sanitizer to Parkland. Parkland respiratory therapist Jason Allen, the husband of Mountain View faculty member Emilie Allen, delivered the medical supply donation to Parkland.

As Cedar Valley and Mountain View prepare to become part of Dallas College, each campus remains committed to meeting the academic and community needs of the Best Southwest Partnership and its member locations.
